Vision Screening
Friday, November 2nd
We will be doing vision screening for Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th grades on Friday, November 2nd. If your child wears glasses or contact, please make sure they wear them that day. If there is a need for a referral, you will receive a letter from Multnomah Education Service District (MESD). If you have any question or concerns, please contact our nurse, Martha Button R.N at 503 916 6360
PTA Family Game Night
Thursday, November 8 - 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Lewis has been selected as one of a small group of schools who will participate in a Cranium Games fundraiser. They've sent us lots of awesome games to play at our free FAMILY GAME NIGHT Thursday November 8th 6:30-8pm. Catalog and fundraising information regarding this event will be sent home next Wednesday. Lewis will receive 40% of the cost of every game!! To learn more please attend tomorrow's PTA meeting or call Martin or Cass at 503-774-2184.
Fall Family Dance to be held this Thursday, October 25, 2007!
The PTA is holding a Family Dance on Thursday, October 25 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. This is a social event sponsored by the PTA to provide families with a social event at the school. This is a family affair and only students accompanied by a parent or adult guardian can attend. Students can not come alone.
YOGA FOR YOUTH!
A new yoga club for 2nd-5th graders is coming to Lewis starting Friday November 2nd. We will have regular classes on Fridays (when school is in session) from 8:00 a.m.- 8:35 a.m. There is a one-time fee of $5 to help cover the cost of mats and also a fun party at the end of the school year. Yoga is a great way to release tension, increase concentration and flexibility, and strengthen the body. YOGA FOR YOUTH will be taught by Lewis parent Kathryn Bartlett, RYT. Kathryn has been practicing yoga for 12 years, teaching yoga for 4 1/2 years, and is a parent of 2 Lewis students. Sign-up forms will be in the office.
Space is limited to 20 students

Chinook Books Sale Continues...
Chinook Books are on sale in the school office. Cost is $20. These community coupon books, which are available in the office, are filled with amazing coupons from OMSI, Burgerville, Portland Nursery, local bike shops, coffee shops, New Season’s, and so much more! The savings are incredible and it’s a great way to support Lewis PTA. Books cost $20.00, 10.00 of which goes directly to PTA.
The Meriwether Lewis PTA is selling the Chinook Book to help us raise money for activities that are supported by the PTA. These include field trips, our Americorps volunteer, and classroom support for all of the classrooms.

Books ($20 cost) will be on in the school office and will also be available at our Open House on September 20.
The PTA is again sponsoring our Fall Book Fair. The book fair will take place in our school library. Proceeds will help purchase books for the Lewis Library.
