Falling WaterStill in our pre-planning stage, you will work with you neighbor in completing yesterday’s “Houses” worksheet. You should find your saved copy in you smart folder.
You’ll have 15 minutes to complete the task.

We’ll have a short discussion afterwards. If you finish early, there are three web links at the bottom of the worksheet that you can visit.
Our next step will be to understand how a building functions. We’ll take a short tour of our school building to better understand. And we’ll work to identify those parts.

4th & 5th Graders

We’ll be starting where we left off yesterday, working with textures in Google Sketch Up. Find your saved Farm House file in your Smart folder. Open the file and get ready to work. I will first review how to stretch your texture to match your model and then let you work on your own. Remember your working to cover 2 sides of your model. When you’re finished show me your work.

Good Morning,

Today we will continue our work learning how to manipulate imported textures in Google Sketch Up. If you recall from our last class we imported a picture of a door as a texture and stretched it to fit perfectly inside a 2D rectangle.

This time we will create a simple 3D model of an “A” frame farm house. Then we will import a picture of a house as texture and stretch that texture to wrap around two sides of our model.

Let’s begin with 10 minutes of Master Key and then we’ll start our work in Sketch Up.

Good Morning!

Start today by working on your typing skills using Master Key. After 10 minutes we will stop to begin working in Sketch Up.

In these next two classes we’ll look at texture and how architects make many decisions about texture on any given project. Texture refers to the surface quality of something, the way things look or feel. Rough and smooth are textures you can see and feel. To get different textures architects often use different materials. Looking at these two structures can you identify the materials used and their textures?

If you can recall from last week, video tutorials 5 & 6 showed us how we can add and manipulate textures in Sketch Up. We will start today by reviewing these techniques and then applying them to our models.
