Today is our field trip to the Children’s Museum! There are so many activities that the children can visit and I am sure that everyone had a good time. I want to thank all of my parent helpers who came with us; the kindergartners and I appreciated it so much. We have a new book this week called See How We Grow, by Katacha Diaz. It is a non-fiction story about how twin girls grow, change, and learn from being infants to kindergartners. Tomorrow is Groundhog Day and we are predicting today if the groundhog will see his shadow. We are making our own groundhog and burrow and will be taking it outside to see if our “Portland” groundhog will see his shadow. In Math, children are learning about the value of pennies and nickels, changing money, working on number facts, learning about 3 dimensional shapes and describing their attributes to others, finding 3 dimensional shapes in the environment, counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, and matching numbers 11-20 with 10 frame pictures. Friday is a Teacher Planning Day and I will be marking report cards which will be sent home next Friday. I am so proud of everyones progress this term!
