Silk Worm Update :)

It has been a couple of weeks since the 2011-2012 school year ended and I wanted to give you an update on the progress of our little silk worms! I brought the worms home and continued to feed them at least 3 times a day! They grew to be about 2 inches long and when they ate, you could actually hear them chewing! It sounded a little like a soft rain falling. Last week,I went to the beach for a few days and when I returned I saw that the worms had started spinning cocoons. Some of the cocoons are golden and some are white due to the two different worms we had. It should take two or three weeks for the moths to hatch then they will mate and lay eggs. I will keep you updated. I plan to gather the eggs and return them to Aurora Silk Worm so they may continue the growing cycle next year. I hope you are all enjoying your summer break….keep reading!
