During our short school week, we worked on matching, sorting, and counting coins. This week students will learn the values of each coin, and adding them. We also did more abstract paintings, this time outdoors in the crisp, sunny air, using a palette of blue, black, and white to make wintery scenes. At the same time, students filled up the sensory tub table with leaves, and searched for small toys and plastic letters in the pile. Another activity involved Silly Putty, learning in what ways it can be used like Play Doh, and other things that can be done with it, like stretching it, bouncing it, and so on.For our Home Living unit, we discussed and listed examples of things that students do at school, and things they do at home. This week we will turn that list into a checklist, and students can mark what they do on certain days at home and at school.  We will also discuss things that individual students would like to be able to do more independently or more often.  We will also do some Thanksgiving activities this week, including talking about things we are thankful for, read about Thanksgiving and turkeys in National Geographic, and do a Thanksgiving ABCs.
