We are having another wonderful week in kindergarten. This time of year is always so bittersweet for me because the year is almost over. The children have learned so much and are just cruising. We have jelled so well as a group, something that has taken several months to create, and now I am going to have to start over with another group in the fall. The kids have been having a great experience with drama. It is so fun seeing 5 and 6 year olds using their creativity. This age group is so fun in that way because they are not self conscious. This week in kindergarten our lead story is The Little Engine that could. The main theme is perseverance. I think all of the kids can relate to having something being really hard, and sticking with it until it is mastered. Our big vocabulary words are: hopeful, engine, passenger, valley, and roundhouse. Our class has had a wonderful time with our 2nd grade reading buddies. We are planning an end of the year picnic together at Brooklyn Park. The date is yet to be determined.
