I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I really enjoyed getting to meet all of you during parent-teacher conferences this past week. I was glad to have the opportunity to demonstrate all the amazing accomplishments our students have made in their learning.

For the next three weeks of school I will be in Room 1 almost every day! I am very excited to have this chance to work more with your students and see what they are learning. Over these three weeks I will be teaching a math unit on geometry. I have planned many exciting and engaging lessons to teach our students the names of two- and three-dimensional shapes, what they look like, and where they are in our environment. We will begin the unit by making a class “Book of Shapes”, based on  a children’s book I will be reading to them. Each student will get to create their own page to include in our class book.

In our Work Time Centers, we are starting a unit on a non fiction book called “Animal Babies in the Grassland” which teaches children about the different names for animal babies. Many of our Work Time activities will be related to these terms and the animals.

Teacher Patricia and I are looking forward to working together over the next three weeks with your students. We have many fun activities planned for the month of December.

Please remember that Friday, December 3rd, is a teacher planning day and school will not be in session!
