Our science unit Animals Two by Two is in full swing. We observed night crawlers last week, and red worms on Tuesday. We will be looking at pillbugs and sowbugs on Wednesday of this week, and gearing up to look at snails next week. We are learning how to handle these creatures carefully and making observations about the way they look and move. We have been quite impressed with how the worms are able to crawl up things and cling onto things. This was new information to many of us! We will be completing reading and writing activities around our science theme for the next two weeks. In math, we are revisiting shapes and polydrons. Our newest work place, Can You Build It?,  has building instruction cards, but no picture of what we are building! It is quite exciting to see what happens when we put the pieces together just as directed! In gym class we took the parachute out for sail! We found that it takes team work to keep it fluttering smoothly and rising up and down in the air. We will continue to play with it throughout the end of the year. Sadly, this is our last week of sharing. It has been great fun to see what special items the kids bring in and listen to them talk about their home interests. Thanks for helping your child choose appropriate items! To help us celebrate the end of kindergarten we are planning a walking field trip to nearby Berkeley Park for some fun in the sun with our buddy class. I will send home more information about time and day as we get closer to the end of the year. We are trying to make sure we choose a day with nice weather! We welcome any parent volunteers who would like to join us on that afternoon. Finally, thanks for all of your lovely gifts last week. I truly appreciate it. Your kiddos have been a joy to work with this year!
