Today was Run For The Arts and wow, can your child run! Please have your child collect the money that was pledged and return it soon; all money collected will help support Art at Lewis in a variety of ways: Drama, Dance, Artist In Residence, are just a few of the opportunities your child can participate in. Yesterday our class met with Rudolfo and began creating the mural that will be highlighted at the Art Night held next month. Children continue working on different art projects, using a variety of artist materials. Last Friday, they used artist charcoal to sketch an animal and next week they will use watercolors to paint a flower arrangement. We will finish up work time centers on Friday; there was so much information learned about Antarctica from our last story. During writing time the focus is on punctuation, capitalization and using describing words to make the writing piece more interesting to the reader. As students learn about symmetry during Math time, I will be incorporating Art, Literacy and Science into it, which will help them understand how symmetry can be used in many different subject areas. We are also beginning a Math unit on 2 and 3 dimensional shapes.
