Run For The Arts happened today and everyone participated and had a wonderful time! Please be sure to collect the money pledged and return it to school, along with the pledge form next week; this money will pay for art and other activities related to the arts for our school. Miss Emilee is beginning to teach some of the academics this week and will be taking over the class beginning next week; I will be in during journal writing and work time and whenever I am needed. Mayday! Mayday! is the non-fiction book selection this week during work time centers. Counting, number word recognition, sentence structure, vocabulary, and retelling are some of the work time projects completed. The Math game, Fill The Hexagon, is being taught; children roll a special dice and fills in blank hexagons with either rhombus’, triangles, trapezoids or hexagons to create whole hexagons. Kindergartners are really enjoying this game. A unit on Pets has begun and will relate to the Science unit, Animals 2×2 during the coming weeks. Our field trip to the Chinese Gardens will be on May 26; more information will be coming. Picture Day is May 5!
