We had a wonderful (and dry) trip to Lee’s Pumpkin Patch. The children saw a lot of different animals and plants and drank delicious apple cider. A huge thank you to all of the family volunteers who came with us! This week students are in school for only four days; Friday is a day off for them. Our class will be making a giant map of Lee’s Farm with Ms. Park’s Kindergarten class. We will label areas seen, draw the paths we took, and glue on different things the children saw using paint and construction paper. Each child painted a paper plate pumpkin, using magenta and yellow for blending. On Monday, they used yarn, tissue paper and construction paper to show the growth of a pumpkin using their plates. Be sure to ask your child about the different stages. We continue workjob centers and daily journal writing. I have added the high frequency words “to” and “can” to each word ring and everyone is beginning to use these words in their writing. In Math the new unit is “Pattern Trains and Hopscotch Paths”. This month students will be creating different patterns using a variety of math manipulatives.
