This week we will have Gregory MacNaughton from the Cooley Art Gallery at Reed College visit our class to prepare us for our upcoming trip to the Cooley Gallery in February. In writing, we are working on a writing assessment piece where children are asked to create a fabulous piece of writing using their own creativity and the skills that we’ve worked on this year in writing. So far, most children have finished outlining their piece and are working on the rough draft. Last Friday, we had a visit from our buddies in Ms. Cindy’s class. All children worked on making a charcoal drawing of a bear. These lovely works of art will be displayed sometime this week. During Storyline, we have been looking at the world and determining where tropical rainforests grow and trying to figure out which continent has the most acres of tropical rainforest. This week we are expanding our rainforest to include animals. Children are making sure to place all animals in the correct layer of the rainforest. Reminder—there is no school this Friday, February 1, 2008.
