Well, we’re wrapping up a successful year in Room 7. Students have finished their Animal Research flipbooks, and are taking photos of the pages to put into a slideshow. The slideshow will be put onto DVDs for the families, and it will also be posted onto our new classroom website– once it’s up and running– more details soon. Students are now working on their “Last Days of School” booklets as we review the highlights of the year. For Math, we are doing mixed review and assessments. For Word Work, our blends for words of the day include “sponge”, “stork”, “splash”, “spring”, and “shrug”. This Friday we are going to the Oregon Zoo, and during the week we are preparing by viewing maps and the Zoo website, discussing animal exhibits and facts. We had Yoko join us twice this week to show us how to make origami animals, come see some examples hanging in the hallway outside of our classroom.

On the last day of school, we will be sending Work Folders home with extra work that students can do during the summer to keep in practice. Students who bring back completed work in September will get extra Shadow Bucks to spend in the Shadow Store! We will also send home information about using Raz Kids and a math website called IXL over the summer, so look forward to those as more ways to help keep the young minds in shape. We’ve had a great time in the classroom this year, and want to thank the students, the parents, and the staff for all helping to make a positive classroom culture. Have a great summer!
