Welcome back from Spring Break!  I hope you all had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying family time.  We have a new calendar for the month of April, which focuses on probability, patterning and identifying some of the tools commonly used to measure time, weight, temperature and length.  We will also continue to work on telling time.  During whole group math students will continue to play different math games.  I will introduce a new one called, “5′s up” that uses addition and subtraction strategies.  I hope that you are having fun playing the Home Connection games that are being sent home.  Our lead story for the week is “Little Mouse” about a mouse who is trying to find a home for the winter.  The are a number of characters in the book and the class loves the story.  Next week Miss Diona will be taking over the class as she begins her solo student teaching; she will also begin writing the classroom notes.  I will not be in the classroom much, but will be working with small groups of students in reading, writing and math outside the classroom.  I will always be available.  On Friday we will be meeting with our buddies to finish a watercolor project that will be shown on Art Night, which is held in May.  We will also have a field trip coming up on April 20 to see the play “Stellaluna”.
