Thanks to all those families who contributed to Run for the Arts. We have finished our sessions with the mural art project. The students had fun painting and adding texture to the large canvas. You will have a chance to view this school-wide project during Art Night on May 6, Thursday. This week, my math group is learning measurement and ratios. We will have a test on Friday on these concepts. We finally finished our quilt projects which incorporated art and math and writing. The 5th graders took that OAKS math test last week. Many of the students made good gains from last year’s math scores. I am pleased with the knowledge the students have made this year. Thanks to the students who have worked hard and tried their best in class and in homework. Fifth graders will be taking the OAKS Reading test on Thursday. We have finished our science unit on food chains and food webs. This week we are focusing on writing a retelling of a novel that the students have read independently this grading period. The students have been given the criteria of what the retelling needs to have in it. Our social studies simulation continues. We spent a few days confirming that our records were accurate last week, so now we are ready to colonize!! Reminder: A letter regarding your child’s Camp Kwanilong OMSI account was sent home last Friday. Please make sure that you pay this final amount by April 30, Friday.
