This week we finished Round 3 of the OAKS state math and science tests. Many students took the tests again because they wanted to make a higher score.
We finished our vertebrate unit in science, and going to focus on the finance/stock market unit in Math and the early colonies/Revolutionary War unit in Social Studies this week. Both of these units require a lot of research, webquests, and cooperative group work. Last week we learned about interest; this week we will learn how to calculate sales tax.
We also are reading historical fiction novels in Language Arts. The students have been given the assignments for their novels. Please go to my webpage http://sylviajen.posterous.com to see the novel assignments, social studies webquests, and math assignments.
If you have not paid the OMSI Camp Attitude final amount, you need to contact me asap. If you have not filled out and signed all the forms that I sent home last week, you need to do them. We are going to camp the end of this month, May 29 – June 1, Tuesday – Friday, so we need all the paperwork and payment done! Chaperones have a meeting next Monday, May 21st. I sent home a supply list of what your child needs to bring to camp, but if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
