It’s another busy week! Some of the students took Round 2 of the OAKS Reading state test this week. Some students will be taking Round 2 of the OAKS Math and Science state test next week. We are reviewing fraction and other math concepts this week.
We finished the Pilgrims unit this week and started the Early Colonies unit in Social Studies. Students are separated into 3 main groups to study New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.
Our science unit on vertebrates ended this week with the presentations and research papers. We were excited to have live snakes and reptiles come to our classroom this week!
This week is busy with a couple fun events. This Thursday is our annual Art Night. Please come and view the art that is displayed in our hallways. Please make sure your child comes to school on time if he is a docent and/or participating in the band and Booming Beats. There will also be desserts to purchase Thursday night.
I sent home 3 papers on Monday that you need to fill out for OMSI camp. Your child MUST have the permission form, medical information, medication form signed and filled out to attend our camp the end of May.
Our Read-a-thon fundraiser for OMSI camp is this Friday. Please make sure your child brings enough books to read for 2 hours! He can bring one blanket, pillow, sleeping bag so lie on the floor and be comfortable. Optional, the students can wear pajamas to school on Friday. They can also bring food items, such as popcorn, crackers, snacks, finger foods, juice boxes, so they can keep the energy to stay focused in the Read-a-thon. Please support this event by supplying snacks, drinks, and books! The pledges/money from this fundraiser is due next week.
