I have to say how happy I’m to be back from summer break and to working with Lewis students again. To hear kids singing in the music room brings a smile to my face. The beginning of the year is such a joyous occasion, seeing familiar faces and meeting new students. In many of the upper grade classes we are starting with the Ghanese Highlife song “Take Time In Life”. 5th graders will be not only singing this tune, but learning the xylophone arrangement as well. In our middle grades we have been working with the sea shanty “I’ve Been to Haarlem”. In our youngest grades we’ve been playing many singing and movement games. I hope to see you all Thursday night at Back to School Night. Come in the music room to say hello.
