In all our music classes we are working hard to wrap up our units before winter break. Our 5th and 4th grades have been working on a hand drum piece, the canon “Catch Me…”. This piece is culminating with drummers in concentric circles playing the canon, while xylophones add a melodic B section. 3rd graders are finishing the Poem “Orff Instruments” with xylophone accents and an instrumental coda. 1st and 2nd graders are finishing their work exploring different voices and timbres. In technology this week students are working to design a home in a virtual community we set up in Google Earth. When finished we’ll then be exporting each house back to Google Earth to see this virtual neighborhood. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe winter break.
