Music and Technology Notes from Mr. Jamesbarry

Band and Violin players will be taking home instruments this week. Help your young musician in taking care of these delicate instruments. I’ve instructed them that no one other then themselves should play their instrument. Also if you could find a safe place in your home to keep it when it’s not being played. This could be in their room or in another place in your house. All of these musicians need time and space at home to practice their instruments. I recommend 10 minutes a day. This might seem short, but I find that everyone can carve out 10 minutes of their busy day, but have a much harder time setting aside 30 minutes. Also at this level most students loose focus after about 10 minutes. So I feel that a short, well played and focused practice daily is more useful and better serves a young musician, than a 30 minute or longer practice session twice a week. Students are also bringing home instrument rental contracts this weekend. Please fill them out and send in a check made out to Lewis. The amount that is owed is on the slip in the lower right hand box.
On another note recorders have arrived for the 3rd grade recorder club. I’ll be passing them out to all who ordered on at this Friday’s practice. Don’t miss it!
