This week in our primary music classes we are starting a unit on creative movement. Our preliminary work has been in circle dances and movement games, but this week we will start exploring creative movement and how it relates to music. The upper grades are starting an instrumental piece, “Chatter with the Angels”. We’ll also be looking at protest songs of the Civil Rights Movement and how this music was supported in the musical community at the time.
One other note, I will be absent on Wednesday, January 24th. This means that there will be no before school Level 1 Percussion nor will there be after school Boomin’ Beats on that day. All other groups will meet at their regularly scheduled times.
