Wow! It’s the fourth week of school already!

We are busy learning about each other and becoming accustomed to the Academic Routine in Second Grade.

The students are excited about being writers! They are learning to web their ideas prior to beginning a story. They are looking forward to publishing their stories and sharing them with their classmates.

Homework was send home on Monday. Each student has a “Homework Bag” that contains all the materials they will need. Homework needs to be completed and returned on Friday.

As an introduction to our study of Urban Habitats, we will explore Brookside Wetlands on October 7^{th. Lynn Vanderkamp from Portland Parks & Rec will lead the guided tour.}

^{Permission forms are due no later than October 2nd.}

I would like to thank all of the parents who submitted Volunteers forms. It’s taking me time to organize the Classroom Volunteer Schedule.I will have a schedule ready by October 19^th.

Reminders:

· Lucky Book order & money are due on October 12^th.

· $2 for the National Geographic Magazine due on October 8^th
