***It’s hard to believe it is time to write the final Classroom Notes of the year! TIme has whizzed by. We all have built so many lasting memories of a wonderful year. I’m so proud of all the hard work of our students. I’m also grateful to a terrific group of committed parents. I have so enjoyed working with each of you this year.
***Last Friday was Stuffed Animal Day and what a great time we had! We introduced, sorted and classified all of our special visitors. Afterwards we broke up into five groups of five. Each group could plan a skit, song or poem to perform with their animals. We enjoyed a circus, a dance troupe, and several skits: The Titanic and the Pirates, The Baby and the Toy Store and The Four Stuffed Animals Gruff. Loads of fun!
***We have been working on Diamante poems. These are poems in the shape of a diamond, using verbs and adjectives. We connected Language Arts and Science by writing about animals found in a pond habitat.
***Today in Gardening with Ms. Julia, the children helped to weed around the blueberry bushes and along the path. The students really feel a connection to our school, our grounds and nature by getting to participate in these activities.
***We’re making sure that even the summer birthdays get a chance to have a special birthday chart by celebrating them each day this week!
***There’s a sign-up chart outside our door if anyone would like to bring an item for a last day treat. Thanks in advance for your help.
***The last few weeks have been packed with activities. We’ve had our trips to the Cooley Gallery, Brookside Wetlands, Spirit Week activities and the aforementioned Stuffed Animal Day. We are still looking forward to Field Day, a picnic in the room, time with our Buddy Class and special last day of school activities. Parents will be welcome to join us in the afternoon. I’ll let you know the specific time by the end of the week.
Of course, there is also the Volunteer Breakfast and End of Year Picnic to look forward to as well.
***We’re immersed in the final assessments of the school year. Watch for a copy of your child’s first writing sample from September and compare that to their May sample.
