***By the time you read this we will have taken our second field trip to the Portland Art Museum this year. This trip will focus on the special Chuck Close exhibit that has been written so much about in the Oregonian. (He even had the cover of the Arts and Entertainment section one time recently.) He’s more than just a painter and photographer. He is also a printmaker who has pushed the boundaries of traditional printmaking in remarkable ways. While a painting could occupy Close for many months, it is not unusual for one print to take upward of two years to complete!
***The second grade classes have some terrific art lessons planned to go along with this special trip.
***Reminder: The children’s admission fees to our three art museum trips this year are paid for by a special grant we received for the second grade classes.
***In order to raise our scores to meet the Writing Benchmarks, please help your child to focus on using proper capitalization, ending punctuation, descriptive words, and a clear beginning, middle and end in all their writings. And, as always, thanks for your help and support!
