Ms. Swan’s 2nd grade

***You can bet your tu-tu’s that our field trip to see the Swan Lake ballet was wonderful! A woman spoke briefly who starred as the Swan Queen in a San Francisco production in the 1930’s. She is now 88 years old and still looking quite elegant. Once again, we couldn’t have ridden four Tri-Met buses and made all our timelines without the help of our dedicated parent volunteers: Amanda (Ashton’s mom), Joan (Della’s grandma), Kim (Elias’ mom) and Rebecca (Nikki’s mom.) By the way, it’s only a rumor that I asked the children to call me the Swan Queen instead of Ms. Swan. ;->
***This Thursday finds us heading out first thing (9:05 am) on the school bus for our trip to Tryon Creek Park. It sounds as if it is going to be a soggy week, so please be certain your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. We will be hiking along a trail, so comfortable tennis or hiking shoes would be best. I’m requesting both a disposable bag and containers for this trip rather than lunchboxes. Seven children indicated on their permission forms that they would be getting lunches from the school cafeteria. Since Maria has to get those ready ahead of time, we can’t make any last minute additions.
***The downtown play, “James and the Giant Peach,” is up next for funds due. In order to secure our tickets, we need to have all the money ($7.75) turned in by November 1st. Miss Leake and I will be sending another permission slip home soon.
***Just a reminder…even though I know you, I cannot excuse the children directly from the classroom. It is a school rule and a safety measure that all teachers must follow. If you need to pick up your child early, please stop by the office and our school secretary (Tracy) will call the classroom and check-out your child officially. Thanks for your help and understanding.
