***Today (on Monday as I write this) I attended a half day inservice on the new writing resources for second grade teachers. I’m really pleased with the materials. Our class actually cheered when I said it was time for Writer’s Workshop the other day! We are completing the “Launching the Writing Workshop” section this week and moving on to the “Personal Narrative” lessons.
***On Thursday, we are heading out on Tri-Met to view the educational program put on by the Oregon Ballet in which excerpts from “Swan Lake” will be featured. Please be certain that your child’s permission slip has been returned, so that all of the class will be able to attend this exciting performance. Be sure to send a sack lunch from home if you haven’t already signed up to get a cold lunch from the school cafeteria. We can’t wait to see the production! Of course, I’m more than a little partial to swans.
***Our new Investigations Math unit is entitled “Coins, Coupons and Combinations.” We will be focusing on helping students to begin to look for patterns and relationships that exist in our number system.
***A reminder that PE classes are on Mondays, Wednesdays and every other Fridays. Library books need to be returned every Tuesday morning in order to check out a new book. Thanks! =-)
