Welcome back and Happy New Year! It is so good to be back and to see all the happy smiles, made it all the better. I hope you all had a wonderful break and were able to find some time to relax and enjoy your family. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for the wonderful gifts, treats and well-wishes. I feel very loved and appreciate all those gestures more than you know. I want to thank the wonderful group of parents that took time during winter break to come in and help organize and clean the classroom. It was so terrific to get so many projects completed to to have support from the families that were able to make it. We will plan another work party this year and I dare say, it was fun as well as being a great help! This week we get back into our classroom and school routines. We have lots of exciting things to share in our writing. We continue to work on narrative writing and our focus in zeroing in on a small moment and stretching it out; adding details and sequencing. Our calendar is very exciting right now, with a new month, a new year and a new pattern to figure out! This week we had P.E. today since we missed school on Monday. We are doing work with the parachute this month, which is super fun. Because the parachute is heavy and works better with more children, we are collaborating with Mrs. Logue’s 1st grade class for the month! As we begin the new year, I encourage you to sign up to volunteer in our classroom. If you haven’t yet signed up, please do. The kids LOVE having your help and are so excited to read to you and show off their great reading skills!
I know that you all received the sad news about the student that passed away and I want you to know that our whole staff and community feels this loss profoundly. Please take extra care of your child as they try to process this loss. If you need extra support, let me know. I am here, as are others in the building.
