I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. Here at school we were busy preparing for conferences next week. I am looking forward to having an opportunity to visit with each of you next week to discuss your child’s learning. We had a wonderful time at Tryon Creek on Monday. We were lucky to avoid the rain for most of our visit! It was such a treat to be out in nature and notice all the treasures the forest offers. We also got to see and hold a live tarantula! I hope that your child has shared some of what we saw at Tryon. If you haven’t been there, it is a great place to take a walk and enjoy nature. A special thank you to Kristie (River’s mom) and Michael (Maile’s dad) for joining us on our trip. This is a very busy week in Room 3. Not only am I working hard to administer assessments, we are also busy looking at leaves, creating wonderful crayon resist pictures, and making clay leaves, which will be fired, glazed and turned into lovely magnets! We are also focusing on the Thanksgiving holiday. This week we are publishing a writing piece that each student selected. We know that published authors must edit their work to look for errors and make sure there are lots of details. Attention is also paid to the illustrations. Students have been working hard on this assignment and we are all so excited to share our pieces this week in class. I hope that you all have a wonderful time next week, enjoying good food, relaxing time with family and remembering all you have to be thankful for. I feel very grateful for all you and for your wonderful children. This is a hardworking, kind, and creative group of children. I will miss seeing everyone next week and look forward to coming back together on the 28th.
