The glory of Art Night was well worth all the effort that went into creating the event. Our docents were articulate and sincere, and I was so proud to be their teacher. Thanks to all the folks who took the time to listen to our stories and appreciate the art. Friday’s substitute mentioned that a majority of the class did a wonderful job with the daily routine and assignments. There are still those individuals who struggle with self-control, and it interferes with their learning as well as the learning of others. It was lovely to start a new week with a burst of bright sunshine and warmth. On Monday, we had our final counseling session with Ms. Rakoz, and thanked her for visiting our class. Afterwards, we witnessed our 30th and final PowerPoint presentation for Scott Foresman literacy. Many students remarked that they love starting the week this way, so perhaps I will create several more for our upcoming Aesop Fables. In the afternoon, we played a rousing game of Perimeter & Area Tag outside. On Tuesday the class returned to the computer lab for Round Two of OAKS testing in math. We have been exploring all different kinds of fractions recently. During the first week of May, 42% of our class practiced IXL Math for a total of nine hours! Thanks to the families that are encouraging and supporting this additional effort. We have shared many fascinating ideas for The Theory of Knowledge projects, and I hope these are in the works. This year, the third grade will be building bridges at school, in conjunction with the new Bridges Math curriculum. More details will soon be provided. The most recent Mystery History finds us depicting Stumptown on the bulletin board, and reading about The Great Fire of 1866. I am out of the building this Thursday and Friday. Mr. Moylan will be our guest teacher. Please visit http://mskennedyroom17.posterous.com/
