Spring brings us signs of new beginnings. Book Making and Messages will naturally take on signs of spring. We have successfully completed geometry, and math will now focus on measurements: linear, time, and money. We will also work on solving word problems. In geography the globe and maps will become more meaningful and useful. There is already a natural curiosity about looking up different places. We’ll learn to identify the four cardinal directions, a simple legend and key symbols, and continents and oceans. Our literature will focus on stories from different continents. The first graders have worked hard on reading and comprehension skills. We all want to do the best we can. It would be very helpful to have parents commit to one hour of reading per week with children at school. You can make a difference! Morning is best, but I can accommodate around your schedule.
