Mrs. Pechette’s First Grade

Mail service within Lewis School has begun.  Writing letters to friends and teachers is an exciting way to write with a purpose.  Letters are written and addressed in the classrooms, then delivered to the blue mailbox outside the office door.  Once a week two children from our class “hand cancel”, then sort and deliver the mail to each room.  It’s exciting to get mail and to write back.  I am looking for a parent to be our adult mail carrier for this year.  It takes less than one hour a week.

Veteran’s Day gave us an opportunity to discuss America, what it means to be an American, and to review The Pledge of Allegiance.  The children shared stories of Veterans in their family.  I am looking forward to conferences next week.  See you then.
