Every Wednesday afternoon, room 5 has a communication group with Mr. Lee Klinski, our Speech/Language Communication Specialist. This semester our theme focus for this group is yellow submarine. We use a single theme to teach many concepts and skills and it is important for us to remain with the same theme for an extended period of time. So, using our current theme, here are some of the concepts this group reinforces: Big and small; open and closed; colors; jobs on a submarine; listening and response in a communication sequence; using technology to participate in a group activity; using facial expression and eye-contact during communication; and taking one’s turn in a timely fashion. It sounds like a lot of work, but Mr. Klinski’s groups are always popular activities in room 5!
Remember that the third week in November there is no school. The teachers will be holding conferences Monday and Tuesday until 8 pm.
