Our last big unit of study is the American Revolution! We will be learning about important people and events from this important time in our history. Some students will be giving a speech in one last attempt to meet speaking benchmarks as a fifth grader. Many students are not turning in their reading logs each Friday; we sent home “homework alerts” last week, but those weren’t signed either. Too many fifth graders will have low marks on their last reading report card because they are not following through on their work. Please check your child’s backpack for any messages from Mrs. Gould. Plans are underway for fifth grade t-shirts and an end-of-the-year party; parents will be calling you for donations or $$$. Sadly, we say good bye to Ms. Blakeley this Friday. She has finished her student teaching and is now going to look for a job! If your child would like to contribute to the secret…and they know what it is, money should be turned in by Thursday. We will be visiting Learning Garden Laboratory on May 21st from 9:30 to 11:30 AM and need parent chaperones to walk with us. This is a make-up for our April field trip; permission forms were sent home many months ago.
