We are finishing our character analysis assignment in writing this week.  Students have made good progress in writing topic sentences and supporting sentences.  Check their writing homework this week; I think you’ll be impressed!  My math group is working on dividing large numbers and we will be finishing our Investigation book entitled “Packages and Groups.”  I’ll give an assessment next week and share it with you at conferences.  Students are working hard on their spelling lists each week.  Within the next three weeks I will be reassessing whether you child needs more challenging words.  Most spelling groups have been focusing on short vowel patterns.  My e-mail address is listed incorrectly in the Lewis Handbook; it is ksgould@pps.k12.or.us and I will respond as soon as I get any e-mail from you.  Thank you for sending your child to school on time daily , and most children arrive with their homework organizer.  Most students let me know when you have a note for me in the organizer as I don’t have time to check each organizer daily.  Next Wednesday reading log calendars are due, and you will need to help your child figure out their total minutes for the month of October and sign the log.  Students who have their reading log completely filled out and signed by a parent will receive a reward!
