This week is a short week because of a “Professional Development Day” on Friday. Therefore, there is no spelling this week. Instead I substituted a vocabulary sheet.
Thank you for helping me to keep the sugary birthday treats out of the classroom. We have had two birthdays so far, and I have recognized the special day with a small treat and a present for the birthday child. In addition, I let the special student sit next to his or her chosen friend in the afternoon. I feel that this makes the day unique but not unhealthy.
I have eleven families who still need to sign-up for conferences. The conference days are November 24th and November 25th.
I want to meet with every family to share the best way to help all of the students reach their potential. There is a sign-up conference sheet outside of my classroom, and there is a copy with Tracy, our terrific new Lewis’ secretary.
Election 2008 is coming to a close inside and outside of our classroom. After voting, we have two women running for president. Their names are Michelle Clancy and Sophie Swartz. The students now have to get the word out about the presidential candidates. Finally, we will have a voting box outside of our classroom in order for the Lewis’ students to vote in our mock election the day before the real election on November 4th.
