It’s so nice to be back together again and finally able to get exercise outside during our break! Jj is our focus letter sound and name. Our poems are, “The Icicle” and “The Mitten Poem” based on the Book, The Mitten, by Jan Brett. Last week we sewed our own mittens and made character puppets from the Brett book to help us retell the story and practice story structure. This week we will also read Jan Brett’s book, The Hat, and compare the two stories. Our word fairy has been busy this week leaving us three new words this week to add to our classroom and onto our word rings to use in our journals! OUr walking sticks, red wriggler and earth worms are fun to explore and learn about and are also holding up well considering the love and effection they are shown daily by the children! We wrote about our ‘treasured” memories that are represented by the items in the children’s treasure boxes. What wonderful ‘props’ for continued great writing ideas! We will learn a new math game and continue problem solving using number stories. Keep reading daily and please return trade books and reading envelopes the day after you explore them with your child. Also, our clothes closet is in need of elastic waist pants sizes 6 through 12 and girls coats if you have any you might donate, thank you!
