It was such a pleasure to meet parents and extended family at Lewis’ Back to School Night. The students and I really appreciated your visit. Although I tried to answer all of your questions, please don’t hesitate to drop by after school if you have any concerns or more questions.
Our students are happy to be settling into a school routine. Some students are even pleased that math homework started last week. Now that the students are back in school and doing homework, I hope that you too have some regular school evening routines.
After a summer of relaxed expectations, you need to set some guidelines. In order for students to be a success in school, make sure that they have a consistent time that they go to bed, and that they get about nine hours hours of sleep a night. I recommend having your child read just before sleep, which helps to quiet a racing mind and body. Television does not have the same beneficial effect. Finally, a word of praise for the encouragement you are giving your students. I see the results when the whole class did their homework, and they had their names on all of the math papers.
