Our spider fact books went home on Tuesday and I hope you have enjoyed reading them with your child as well as their spider poems and little books too! Our classroom pet spider remains busy in her amazing web high above our back door and continues to encourage learning connections and activities for the children. As the insect supply dwindles and the days grow shorter and cooler, outdoor spiders are becoming more scarce but the leaves, tree nuts and other fall flora and fauna are now also capturing our interest! You will notice that we have driving themes in our classroom that are interwoven throughout math, science and literacy. These themes build on each other and help to connect and make meaningful your child’s learning journey throughout this year! ![]()
We will be going to Tryon Creek State Park next Friday and these next two weeks in the classroom we will be learning more about how the earth and it’s inhabitants change in Fall preparing for the Winter months ahead. We are also finishing up our first Math Unit doing problem solving and review of what we have learned together so far. Our “Color Bear Reading Friends” small groups are going well and the children are working hard on their independent learning activities, (Work Jobs), during this important time of the day. Thank you to our parent volunteers for assisting at this time, you are so appreciated! Our Writer’s Workshop started off with such a positive atmosphere with each child writing about what they know and care about. Some students are mostly labeling and “driting” their stories while others are creating entire short story books, wanting to take their writing home to continue working on it..So great!! I love reading their work with them and making goals for their next day session. Please remember to send in your signed forms and $ for our upcoming field trip…email me if you have any questions abuckley@pps.k12.or.us
