Last Friday afternoon, we celebrated fall in our Outdoor Center with Miss Sarah’s class. The children enjoyed fall books with friends and concocted yummy cups of pumpkin pudding to sample. They loved it! Last week we also dissected, observed and recorded our explorations of several little pumpkins during Work Time Centers, learned 3 fall poems, did a mini unit on bats and created some amazing monster cutouts based on the book, There Was An Old Monster" by Ed Emberly. This week we wrapped up our study of fall flora, estimating the height, weight and number of seeds inside our classroom pumpkin. Slimy but fun!
As we welcome November, a month of gratitude and thanks, fall is in full swing and the chilly weather can surprise us. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the ever changing weather, This week we are doing a mini unit on Owls including creating crayon resist watercolor owls, learning about our friends the five legged starfish and going on an exciting field trip to the play, " Pinkalicious!" Through out November, I will be highlighting food and nutrition, the importance of family and friends, Native Americans and Colonial America. Thanks for all the love and support you give your children and enjoy reading to/with them each day! (as the Mom of a 17 and 14 year old, this powerful, bonding interaction will not last forever so enjoy it while it lasts!)
