Colonists are working hard this week to earn wealth units to buy their supplies and passage on the ship to the New World next week. Wealth units are earned for three specific mapping assignments done in class. We can’t wait to set sail for the New World! Next week we will visit Sellwood Middle School on Wednesday; pizza lunch will be provided or students may bring a lunch from home; students will tour the building and see one act from a play performed by the Sun School after school program. We will return to Lewis by 12:30 p.m. Today we tested students on the New England States and began studying our second region of the United States: the Middle Atlantic States. Students are expected to memorize the location, name and capital for each state in this region; we will take a test in about ten days. Homework this week is reading and math. We have extra math packets available for parents who want their students to review math skills at home. Also remember that homework club is available every Wednesday before school! If your child has not turned in their Read-a-thon permission form, please send it and keep collecting sponsors this week.
