Hello from Room 12! After our introduction to insects last week, we’re back to geology. We started out the week learning about Sed, the sedimentary rock, as well as Morph, the metamorphic rock. Students began writing their non-fiction books by choosing a research question. The popular choices were what makes rocks different colors and what do we use different types of rocks for? We will be making a big book as a class as we learn about the three major types of rocks.
As we continue to work in our geology notebooks, making observations on the experiments we perform, I am asking students to reflect on their learning behaviors. Each day, students describe how they were as a learner. As a class we are continuously thinking about what we did well as a learner, and what we can improve on for tomorrow. This conversation can be carried out at home by asking your student about what they did well as a learner, as well as what they could do to be a better learner tomorrow.
