This past week our class had a great time going to the Oregon Ballet performance of Duets, at the Newmark Theatre. Our class wants to give a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Collin Murphy, Julie McGinnis, and Dominique Lam. We were very fortunate to have two tickets come available at the last minute and really appreciate you taking the time to help. Last week we had 19 teachers from Japan come to our classroom and watch as the students took part in three separate gardening activities. Julia did a nice job and worked very hard planning the event. It was great hearing introductions from our Japanese guests about who they were and what they taught and interesting to listen to their responses to some of our student’s questions.
Our neighborhood and community unit is coming to an end, if you have not seen our frieze of the Woodstock neighborhood, in our classroom, please comes by. The class had a great time when Ms. Sabrina came into our class on Monday to teach the students some yoga positions and relaxation techniques. The May Walk and Bike Challenge began this week. Students from the upper grades will come to our class each day to take a survey on how we all get to school.
I hope you have noticed the amazing pieces of art work that are outside our classroom and hanging all along the Lewis School walls. Each classroom has worked very hard to prepare for Art Night, this Thursday, May 6th at 6:30pm. It will be a wonderful and exciting event. Have a nice week.
