Thursday was our last Drama Class and the children enjoyed it! This year the first graders did not do a presentation but they will in second grade. I plan to arrange a sing along/ poetry celebration in class towards the end of the school year and I hope you will attend. Thanks to all who participated in the Run for the Arts fund raising event to help us introduce our students to a broader spectrum of Arts experiences. During this busy week we are writing and working on story problems, reviewing coins and their worth and many of the Math Centers we have learned through out the year. Our science center is busy with growing insects! We are recording our observations, their growth and changes and trying to keep them comfortable, ( and safe from being squished or lost!), in their student made and cared for habitats. We have begun our Poetry Unit and the children are devouring poetry and creating their own as fast as I can put out the paper! You have very creative and enthusiastic writers and it is a joy to guide them each day! Our Work Time Center work jobs revolve around our “Lead Story” from our Literacy Adoption and our insect science unit. Tomorrow is our 22nd Annual Arts Night at 6pm to 8:30 pm. We still have time slots available for your child to act as Docent for the art they created in our room this year. It is a wonderful opportunity for them and they can stay as long as they like or just for 15 minutes. WE NEED THEIR EXPERTISE! I look forward to seeing your family tomorrow, it is a fantastic evening! Many thanks to Deborah Swan for all your amazing work at getting this event organized every year!
