Room 12 Classroom Notes 4/12/10

Greetings!  We’ve had a lot of fun learning new problem solving strategies in our classroom over the past week, and had an excellent discussion as a whole class about sharing our Legos during workshop time.  I was very proud of the class, as they worked very hard to meet everyone’s Lego needs.

Run for the Arts was this morning, and what a great run it was!  Our classed worked very hard to raise money for our school art fund.  Lynne and I will be starting up our morning reading groups again this week now that everyone has settled into our new morning routine.  I am excited to work in smaller groups with the students again.

One of my goals is to read with every student one-on-one each week.  This lets me reinforce reading strategies and gives students an opportunity to trade in their “just right books.”  I would really appreciate some extra help with this job!  Our quiet reading is first thing in the morning, and volunteers are welcome who would like to help children pick their books or listen to a student read.

I’m anxiously awaiting those parent surveys!  I can’t wait to hear all of the helpful suggestions you have to make our communication more effective.
