Last Friday we all made clay snowmen. They turned out so cute and everyone had a great time creating them; they look so different. This week, when they are dry , they will be fired in the kiln and then painted. Hopefully, they will be ready to go home by Friday. Children began work time centers yesterday, based on the non-fiction book, See How We Grow. This book tells about how we change and grow from infant to child. Graphing, comparing, handwriting, writing about how children grow, using cut up sentences to create a sentence, using pattern blocks to make a puzzle and reading leveled text are the focus. In Math, children are learning how to play the game Grab and Count. The letter/sound this week is Oo; observing and writing about ocean objects is just on of the activities with Oo. Tomorrow afternoon, the “Tree Lady”, Sandy Reid, will show the children how to make paper; if you would like to help, it will be from 2:00-3:00. On Friday, I am reading the story, The Mitten Tree, and children will make their own mitten to place on a paper tree. It is a busy week!
