This week we are working towards picking a story from our lives to write, edit, and publish. We have started by telling our stories orally to see if we remember enough details about the story to write it. Next, we will draw pictures of the beginning, middle, and end of the story to help us think about the precise words that we want to use in our stories. Then, we will begin writing our first drafts, edit, and publish our stories. We will invite you in to celebrate our writing when we are finished. We have been using some of Patricia Polacco’s books as mentor texts for learning about how and when to use precise language, such as specific verbs and onomatopoeia, to make a story come alive. The Lewis Holiday Bazaar is this Saturday from 10-3. Our class designed snowflakes and printed them on to cards to sell at the Bazaar. Each card is unique and beautiful.
Our salmon should hatch sometime this week. Please come in and take a peek if you are interested. Our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory field trip is next Thursday. There is no school for students this Friday. Enjoy the long weekend.
