Welcome to the Lewis Music page. The music program at Lewis strives to provide a well-rounded, whole child approach to music education.
Every student at Lewis receives music instruction starting in Kindergarten through 5th grade. This general music program draws equally from the Orff and Kodaly methods of music education for elementary aged children. To know more about this program and what your child is learning, follow the Classroom Music link.
Starting in second grade, students have the opportunity to learn piano keyboarding taking advantage of our school computer lab and midi keyboards. Students in third grade have the opportunity to join our Recorder Club. Recorder Club members meet weekly learn to play this wonderful instrument.
When students reach the 4th and 5th grade they have the opportunity to take part in the Lewis Concert Band and/or the Boomin’ Beats. Concert Band meets twice a week and provides students with an opportunity to learn a specific instrument (clarinet, trumpet, etc.) Boomin’ Beats is an Orff performance group that meets once a week where students explore barred instruments, singing and dance.
Our goal at Lewis is provide children with a safe and caring environment for them to explore music. Our classes involve, singing, playing instruments, musical games, and dance. It is my wish that all students see music as a fun and engaging art form, one that they are eager to take part in to create and explore and enjoy.
