This afternoon we gathered to honor our 5th grade students and to celebrate the end of the school year. Thanks to all those that were able to take part and a big thank you to our 5th grade parents for putting on a great picnic for our 5th grade students.
On Friday, May 29, 2009 we held our annual Field Day. Special thanks goes to our PE teacher, Mr. Woods for organizing the event. Also thanks to our parent, staff, and student volunteers for their help with the event.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful parent community for the kindness and support they provide, and for the wonderful expressions of support they have provided this week during our Staff Appreciation Week. I would especially like to thank all those involved in our staff luncheon that took place on Wednesday. We thank you for your support.
Portland Public School is seeking parent feedback on Special Education services. The online survey is designed to gather information about your relationship with, and how you feel about your student’s school. Please complete a separate survey for each student you have who is in a special education program. Your opinion is important.

We will be hosting a community dinner at the school featuring local, seasonal food. The menu includes Spring Minestrone Soup, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Fresh Green Salad, Farro Salad with Peas, Asparagus and Feta, fresh bread, and a Strawberry Rhubarb Compote over ice cream for dessert. Dessert will be served in the school garden. There will be a suggested donation of $5-$10

Because of the weather, we have rescheduled our Run for the Arts. It will now take place on Friday, May 1, 2009.
Lewis Dines Out: Tuesday, April 28th at Pizzicato Pizza on 61st and Division. All day long whenever anyone purchases anything 20% goes to Lewis.

On Friday, students in 4th and 5th grade worked in the technology lab creating short animation projects around the theme of the Dr. King holiday and or the Inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama.
