Last night our music students performed in our Spring Music Concert. All the groups did a great job. I wanted to share some pictures with you from the event and also acknowledge the work that Mr. Jamesbarry did leading these students. It was a great event.

On Friday, May 29, 2009 the Lewis Elementary School community came out to the school for our annual End of Year Picnic & BBQ. We would like to thank all those that made the event possible including our many parent volunteers. Special thanks to our event leaders Sarah Kohn and Stephanie Sook for their work making this event possible.

On May 20, 2009 the Lewis PTA sponsored an after school Walk & Bike Festival. We would like to thank all of our volunteers and James from the Bike Gallery for their help with the event.

On Friday, May 15, 2009 the Lewis PTA sponsored a community dinner. We would like to thank all those that took part and would especially like to thank Julia Hamlin and our PTA, and our many parent volunteers for making the event a success.

We will be hosting a community dinner at the school featuring local, seasonal food. The menu includes Spring Minestrone Soup, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Fresh Green Salad, Farro Salad with Peas, Asparagus and Feta, fresh bread, and a Strawberry Rhubarb Compote over ice cream for dessert. Dessert will be served in the school garden. There will be a suggested donation of $5-$10

Lewis Dines Out: Tuesday, May 5 at The Bagdad on 37th & Hawthorne. May 5th from 5 pm ’till close. Dine in the pub or the theater and 50% goes to Lewis!

Our run has been rescheduled for Friday, May 1. We are looking for volunteers to help during the run to hand out water and snacks, count laps, and process pledge sheets (after the run). We had a great turn out this morning for our April Walk & Bike Day. Thanks to all those who took part and to our parent volunteers who make these events possible.
May Walk & Bike Challenge There are 20 school days in May - how many days do you think you can use your leges to get school? Look for pledge tables near the front office and outside between now and May 1. Your first opportunity is this Thursday morning when you check in for Walk & Bike Day. Garden Social and Plant Swap - Wednesday April 15th from 3:00-4:30 Come check out the garden, eat some healthy after school snacks, enjoy a performance by our 4th Grade Strings and swap plants. Collections for the plant swap was on Friday. We would like to collect all of the plants prior to the event. On Friday, students in 4th and 5th grade worked in the technology lab creating short animation projects around the theme of the Dr. King holiday and or the Inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama.
