In spite of the weather, our End of Year Picnic & Book Sale was a great success. Again this year we offered grilled hot dogs and sausages from Otto’s Sausage Kitchen on Woodstock. We greatly appreciate the support that Otto’s has provided over the years and we thank them again for their support of Lewis Elementary School.
During the picnic, we also offered a used book sale. This was a great opportunity for families to stock up on books for summer reading. A big thank you to all those who donated books and to our volunteers that worked to make the sale possible.
Music was provided by our own 4th and 5th grade Orf Ensemble, The Boom’n Beats, under the direction of Mr. Jamesbarry. Also again this year the band of Lewis parent Chris Hawking, The Satisfied Minds, closed up the evening with a great set of songs. We thank them for performing again this year.
We closed out the evening by announcing our raffle winners. The winner of the New Seasons Gift Basket was not in attendance, but 3rd grade student Nate was on hand to take home a new bike, complements of Sellwood Cycle Repair. We thank both New Seasons and Sellwood Cycle Repair for their generous support of our school.
Finally we would like to thank all the volunteers and staff who worked setting-up, cooking, serving and cleaning up after the event. It was a great evening and a great send off as we head into our summer break.
